"I often think the best things in life come from the worst experiences. It wasn't the easiest thing to teach myself, but I noticed as soon as I picked up the needles, my mind kind of went into a meditative mode. It's very relaxing and calming. I find it funny that people will say they don't have the patience for it. Knitting teaches you patience. It teaches you to deal with mistakes. I learned through one of my fellow knitters, that the Amish people always leave one mistake in their work on purpose. This is to teach them humility and that everything in life is not perfect. The best gift of knitting is giving. Nothing in the world is better than a gift someone has made. You know their time went into it in every single stitch. Often when I make things, I tend to think about the person as I am knitting. It brings back a lot of good memories that maybe I have forgotten. So it is a gift for both the giver and the receiver. Knitting to me, is part of my soul.  "  Jana Anello

Patterns of the Week
Blue Star Beanie

by Shana Schasteen

This hat is the perfect fit for when it is just starting to get cold or for your favorite winter runner.
The pattern is comprised of twisted stitches and is deceptively stretchy. The twisted stitches are a great opportunity to try cabling without a cable needle.

This hat will be free until November 15th. It will then be $3.

Newfoundland Mitts
by Gillian S. Hess

This is a traditional pattern from Newfoundland.
The little honeycombs create a corrugated pattern inside the mitten which locks in you natural heat and keep you warn and toasty. There are many version on the web but here is one of my favorite.

Swap Potholders

This beautiful pattern originated from The Wool Eaters Blanket by Sarah London. It can be made as simple Trivet gifts or a lovely beautiful blanket for the Winter.

I hope everyone is having lots of fun with their holiday knitting! We have so many suggestions for patterns you might need, and we are here to help you anytime!
Just a reminder that ALL CASCADE will be 25% off until Sunday November 10th! Take advantage of the sale now!
